Two Pine-Richland Middle School teams of seventh- and eighth-grade GATE students placed in the 2025 Spring Stock Market Game in April. The Spring Stock Market Game is a ten-week online game that students participated in through GATE classes and at home. Students were honored at the PA Western Region Awards Ceremony at Butler County Community College on May 6 in which they celebrated their success, shared their investing details and enjoyed a luncheon with business professionals.
Seventh-graders Lucas Ellison and Jacob Yanni earned first place among 123 middle school teams in Western Pennsylvania and first in the state, and also placed third in the state among nearly 1,600 teams ranging from upper elementary to high school. Eighth graders Nyejah Ressler, Egor Yushevich and Joshua Zacharias earned second place among middle school teams in Western Pennsylvania and third in the state.

The Stock Market Game is an online simulation of the global capital markets that engages 4th - 12th graders in the world of economics, investing and personal finance and prepares them for financially independent futures. This enrichment experience provides students with a fundamental understanding of investing while providing students with real-world skills and practice in math, English language arts, economics, social studies, and other subjects.
The program is sponsored by SIFMA (Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association) and the PA Foundation for Free Enterprise Education. More than 600,000 students take part every school year across all 50 states. The Stock Market Game has reached 22 million students since its inception in 1977.
