Students Spread Positivity Through Kind Like Clemente Project

Pine-Richland Middle School's 8th-grade Spanish I students are putting kindness into action!

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, students in Ms. Batouyios’ classes learned about the incredible life and legacy of Puerto Rican baseball legend and former Pittsburgh Pirates player Roberto Clemente.

Inspired by Mr. Clemente’s commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of others, students wrote heartfelt letters of encouragement to members of our community who could use a little extra joy, including hospital patients, nursing home residents, military service members, and their favorite Pine-Richland teachers.

Students are also putting Mr. Clemente’s spirit of service into action through our Extra Innings Challenge, completing independent acts of kindness throughout our school and community.

Through these meaningful service projects, students are celebrating Mr. Clemente’s compassion, generosity, and commitment to helping others while discovering that even small acts can make a difference. We are so proud of our PRMS students for using their words and actions to spread happiness and carry on Mr. Clemente’s legacy—one act of kindness at a time!
