Pine-Richland Middle School Takes 4th in Science Bowl

Pine-Richland Middle School placed fourth at the Western Pennsylvania Science Bowl held Friday, February 27, at the Community College of Allegheny County South Campus. The team, comprised of eighth-graders Kyle Annal, Matthew DeVito, Riya Jhamb, Vyom Patel, and Aiden Ro, was awarded a trophy and a $300 prize to support school STEM programming.

Preparation for the event was led by sponsor Kristy Rush. Sophomore Hans Jhamb served as a student mentor and conducted weekly study sessions. Support was also provided by volunteer Manisha Jhamb, who coordinated additional virtual and weekend practices.

The fast-paced quiz-style tournament is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Energy Technology Laboratory and serves as the qualifying event for the National Science Bowl held in Washington, D.C.
