Middle School Ensembles Earn Music in the Parks Awards

Pine-Richland Middle School’s bands, orchestra, and choirs took home eight awards, including six first-place awards, at the annual Music in the Parks festival in Hershey, Pennsylvania, on May 19.

  • 7th/8th Grade Orchestra earned first place, Middle School String Orchestra, with a superior rating, and was named Overall Junior High/Middle School String Orchestra
  • 7th Grade Band earned first place, Middle School Concert Band II, with an excellent rating
  • 8th Grade Band earned first place, Middle School Concert Band I, with an excellent rating, and was named Overall Junior High/Middle School Concert Band
  • 7th Grade Choir earned first place, Middle School Mixed Choir II, with an excellent rating
  • 8th Grade Choir earned first place, Middle School Mixed Choir I, with a superior rating
  • PRfect Pitch earned first place, Middle School Women's Ensemble, with a superior rating

Eighth-grade orchestra member and violinist Claire Cassisi was named Outstanding Soloist for her work on a piece she performed with the eighth-grade choir.

The orchestra is under the direction of Mr. Dave Belchick, the bands are under the direction of Mr. Will Guess and Mr. Jim Stillwagon, and the choirs are under the direction of Ms. Heather Flora and Mr. Lee Rickard.
