Musical

On January 30-31, Pine-Richland Middle School presented Beetlejuice JR., featuring music and lyrics by Eddie Perfect and book by Anthony King and Scott Brown. Based on the motion picture and Broadway musical, the story follows Lydia Deetz, a teenager grieving the loss of her mother, as she moves into a new home with her father. There, she encounters the spirits of the previous owners, Adam and Barbara Maitland, and a demon named Beetlejuice who attempts to assist her in scaring away the house's new inhabitants.
This collaborative production included 70 students across the cast and crew. Leading the cast were Mckenna Byrne in the title role of Beetlejuice and Brynn Kohley as Lydia Deetz, along with Nathan Angelo and Izzy Woodburn, who portrayed Adam and Barbara Maitland. Other principal roles included Chloe Kerns as Delia, Brody Stieg as Charles Deetz, Anya Kapoor as Maxie Dean, and Kamy Plowey as Miss Argentina.
Directed by Jamie Miller and Kosha Dolan, the show was led by a crew of 7th and 8th graders, including stage managers Nathan Leckey, Samantha Angelo (10) and Anjana Palathunkal (11). Specialized departments managed the production's technical requirements, including an 18-member run crew, a costume department managed by Evelyn Kissman, and technical leads Jack Wright (lighting), Leela Sampat (sound/mic), Matthew Troy (spotlight), and Rachel Mowry (music).
