Principals' Message—August 16, 2024

Dear Pine-Richland Middle School Parents and Students,

We hope that this letter finds you enjoying your summer vacation with family and friends. We are very excited about the upcoming 2024-25 school year and are confident that this year will bring exciting adventures and meaningful learning opportunities for all of our PRMS students, teachers and parents/guardians. Please plan to join us on September 5th for our Meet the Teacher night as we share additional details with you about this year’s building goals.

Our 2024-25 school theme is Work Hard, Stay Kind. We encourage all of our students to work hard, respect each other, and make an impact in our community by joining a club or activity, which can be found in the Student Handbook located at the front of their school-issued planner or on the website. Students will receive their school-issued planner on the first day of school, Thursday, August 22, 2024.

Please be sure to carefully read all of the information included in this letter so that you don’t miss anything important.

Arrival

When students get off the bus, they should report to the gyms until 7:30 am. At 7:30 am, the bell will ring and students should report to their first period class. Your child’s first period class will serve as their homeroom. School will begin at 7:45 am, and students will be dismissed at 2:36 pm. To be consistent with our emphasis on health and wellness and ensuring that students are getting enough sleep, we are asking that car riders be dropped off no earlier than 7:15 am.

Sapphire

Middle school students can access their schedules, locker numbers, combinations and bus information in the Sapphire Community Portal (SCP) starting at 8:00 am. on Monday, August 12. Log in or create an account here.

This year, student schedules will also feature team names. Grade 7 teams include the Dragons, Screeching Owls and Wolverines, while Grade 8 teams are the Dolphins, Krakens and Snow Leopards. These team names will not only indicate the team of teachers your student will be placed with, but will also foster a stronger sense of community among our middle school students!

Visiting the School

The middle school will be open for visiting Tuesday, August 13, from 1:00 pm – 4 pm, Wednesday and Thursday, August 14-15, from 8:00 am – 3:00 pm, and Monday, August 19, from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm. Please be sure to bring a copy of your schedule and locker information with you when visiting to become familiar with the location of your classrooms and locker.

Orientation for families new to the Middle School will be Tuesday, August 13, at 1:00 pm, and Monday, August 19, at 4:00 pm.

PLEASE NOTE that the school will be closed for visitors at all other times as we prepare for our return to school. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
